From my past experience with shelves being clear of the sale items, I figured I'd outsmart the "shelfclearer" by doing my small bit of Meijer shopping at 10pm on a Saturday night. Who could possibly be shopping at that hour on a Saturday night? Right?
There was very few people shopping at that hour which was nice, kind of felt like the store was my playground. I had managed to find a couple of things on my list but was very disappointed that the shelves for some of the other items were once again empty.
As I was going thru the check out lane, I ran into the store manager, I asked her when the best time was to shop to avoid the empty shelf syndrome. She told me Wednesday and Thursdays were the best days to shop. She said they get many trucks in just for Sunday & Monday shoppers and have time by Wednesday or Thursday to restock.
I also asked her about the sale tags and when they update the cash register database....she told me they pull prior week sale tags off the shelves around 10pm Saturday evening but they switch or update the registers database to give the sale prices Sunday at 6am give or take a handful or minutes or so! So if you're the early bird checking out at this time you may want to check your receipt or use the shelf checkout to make sure you are getting the right prices and the items which are on sale!
Anyway.........
Taking the store Managers advice, my next shopping trip was on a Thursday evening about 10pm..... NOPE! Nothing! Shelves were empty again! I was so aggravated, that not only did I waste a trip to the store, but deprived myself of sleep and got nothing on my list. Her advice didn't work for me that Thursday!!!
So now, I figure if the store is getting several trucks in just for Sunday, then I'm going to become the "SUN-UP SUNDAY SHOPPER".... Ill be there at 6am, I will get my sale items, I will self-scan so I can watch the price it scans at and then go home and take a nap LOL
Ugh...all of this to get something nearly free???? Is it worth this amount of work???? Yup...for now :)
